When tears flow, the devil tempts.
One man asked, "Do you know why Satan had to tempt Jesus in the desert?" The devil told Jesus to change the stone into bread because Jesus was hungry. Here's the kicker: that's educative—the devil only tempts people who are in desperate situations. This man went on to say, "The devil will never tempt you to change the stone into bread when you're satisfied with food; he's not stupid. He waits until the time of your great need to drive you away from God, using what you need most."
The whispers of the devil become louder when we are desperate and suffering. Thankfully, God already knew how weak we are during our challenging seasons, so He gave us another form of food—the Gospel of Jesus Christ. That's why it's essential to carry a Bible and pray almost every time you get the chance, especially in our desperate and challenging seasons.
Many walk from church to church and from pastor to pastor, looking for solutions during those bad seasons. We seek prophetic visions from prophets we know nothing about. They also end up lying to us, and out of our ignorance, we say Amen. Because of the negative information we receive from the devil through our surroundings, we become suspicious of our people and hold them suspects for our challenges or suffering.
There are two reasons why bad seasons happen in our lives. One is to test our faith: how strong is our relationship with God? Can we still say Hallelujah even when God seems to have looked the other way? Can we still forgive our enemies during those bad seasons? Can we stand our ground and look at the devil, saying, "Man shall not live by bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God?"
My sister had miscarriages every time she got pregnant due to the fibroids in her womb. Many told her that she was bewitched, never to have children. The devil is truly cunning; he used even Christians to tell my sister to visit witches for a solution. Her best friend told her that "maybe God never created you to have children." But through her desperation, she spoke one statement: "Devil, get behind me!" She went through a life-threatening operation; doctors cleaned her womb, cutting out all the fibroids. After one year, she got pregnant and gave birth to a healthy baby boy. Her victory left everyone speechless.
Secondly, God punishes only those He loves. Because He has so much hope in us, He will always punish us when we leave the right path. Remember Jonah: because God loved him, He made him live in the belly of a big fish for three days and three nights. Like a loving father who punishes his children to correct them, so does God. He lets bad seasons happen to make us understand our purpose and correct us from our mistakes.
Whatever the case, block your ears from the devil's whispers and understand that everything happens for the good of those who believe in God. Like a football team that overcomes a season full of injuries and disappointments, and finally lifts the trophy at the end, so do we Christians. Job was awarded three times what he lost at the end of his bad season.
We are all experiencing challenges in our everyday lives. Don't ever let anyone discourage you or tell you the opposite of God's love. There are no spells or curses. If you're jobless, understand that God is preparing you for something bigger. Whether you're childless or facing a hard life, know that God is aware and working on your situation. Remember, God is never late or early but comes at the perfect and right time. The storm might be stronger, but the Word of God is strongest. The world might hate you, but God's love is what counts. Glory be to the Lord our God.
